Hotel Biskupsky dum (The Bishop's House) 4 stars

 BASIC INFORMATION

During the Romanesque period, at the end of the 12th century, the powerful bishop Prince Jindrich Bretislav had a vast court built as a bishop´s seat on the left bank of the Vltava river. His successors, bishops and archbishops, e.g. Jan of Drazice (from which the name of the Drazicke Square is derived) had the court extended and rebuilt. The fire in 1249, started by the rebels against the King Wenceslas I., caused according to the chronicler Kosmas an extensive renovation of the seat. In 1419 the court was plundered and burnt down. This was the fall of the court and its walls were used for the construction of houses of Prague bourgeoisie.

The appearance of the house, today called according to its historical origin The Bishop´s House, emanates from 1843, when the reconstruction of the 16th century semblance was finished after six years of work. Present archeological research, however, proved the evidence of the settlement in this place already in primeval and even neolithic times.

Behind the Empire facade guests can find both comfort and genuine remnants of the past.

I just wanted to send you a message to thank you for all of your help in scheduling my hotel arrangements for my time in Prague. My husband, parents and some friends were in Prague this past weekend. We stayed at the Bishop's House and it was wonderful. What a beautiful hotel, and a wonderful city. I plan to return to Prague sometime in the future because we had such a good time there. I will contact you for your help again. I could not have planned this trip without your help!

I would just like to say that my wife and I had a wonderful time in your beautiful city of Prague, and the hotel (Bishopsky Dum 28 Jan - 1 Feb 2003) was excellent. Thanks for making the business of booking a short stay via the web painless and efficient. We both look forward to travelling there again.

We have just returned from our week in Prague, and I wanted to thank you for your suggestion to book at the Bishop's House. As far as I am concerned, this charming hotel was absolutely perfect: it was comfortable, quiet, perfectly located and the staff was especially helpful, courteous and amiable. I will not hesitate to recommend it (and your services) to anyone contemplating to visit Prague (have already done so).

I would like to thank you for the superb job you did in arranging my hotel accommodation. Your recommendation of Biskupsky Dum was ideal. A lovely hotel in a perfect location in the city. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. I had a fantastic week in Prague of which is a very beautiful city but without your help I would not have been able to enjoy it as I did.

My family and I want to thank you for all the help you provide to us. You can be assured that we will call on you again, and even more, we will refer you and your agency to all our friends. The Bishop House was wonderful as well as its orientation to all of Prague. I wonder If you knew that the most important reason to our visit was to see the Exhibit of my Great-Great Grandfather's (Vacslav Brozik) paintings at the Valdstejnska Jizdarna, and to also meet with Representatives of the Czech Republic at his birthpace, in Tremosna (near Piszen). Thank you again.

I just wanted to thank you for your good service. We have just come back from Prague and staying at the Bishops House(II) and the hotel was fantastic. We were very pleased with your transfer service and it really helped us to enjoy our holiday as it made it so easy and was very prompt. Thanks again for your assistance. We look forward to returning ASAP!

I recently enjoyed a holiday in Prague at The Bishops House Hotel arranged through your company. I am writing, on behalf of my wife and travelling companions, to tell you that we enjoyed the holiday immensely and that we were particularly impressed by the efficacy of the arrangements that your company made for us. We would particularly like to thank you for arranging the guided tour. The guide was a delightful young lady whose obvious interest in and enthusiasm for the history of your city made the 4 hour walk pass all too quickly. The only negative comment I would make was that the driver of the transfer car hadn't been informed that our transfers were free resulting in a very minor embarrassment for both of us at the hotel and the airport. This however was a very minor blip in an otherwise extremely enjoyable 5 days and we will certainly be recommending your company to our friends.

The Bishopsky Dum Hotel you recommended was ideal : 1minute walk from Charles Bridge (but quiet location) ; very comfortable, good breakfast and friendly staff. We couldn't have done better and the rate you got for us was a significant saving on the normal price. We're also very glad that we booked your introductory orientation tour. Lenska did you proud! To be shown the city by a local was well worth it ,and she set us up for the rest of our stay with advice on transport, day excursions, music venues, traditional foods, shopping recommendations and evening entertainment; as well as guidance on the city and it's history, and the sights not to be missed. We certainly hope to return to your beautiful city and will certainly recommend your agency to friends.

Just a quick note to thank you and your team for the excellent organisation on our behalf. Everything worked smoothly; the hotel was lovely and the people hospitable, and Jana, our guide, was excellent. She really made our introduction to Prague very special. Thank you so much. Thank you very much for organising our trip to Biskupsky Dum. The hotel was wonderful and the staff were attentive and efficient. We really enjoyed out time there. It was also really helpful that our transfers were organised, as it was the first time for our group in Prague and we would have got lost! Prague is such a beautiful city! Thanks you again and every continued success with your site.

I would like to express my thanks for the splendid job you did for us on our recent trip to Prague. The city, of course, was the best thing of all. But we also thought that Biskupsky Dum was a wonderful little hotel with friendly and helpful people. We're sorry that we couldn't use the driver you arranged for us when we arrived in Prague. Our flight from the U.S. was delayed in leaving and by the time we arrived in Copenhagen, the Prague flight had left, so they had to re-book us. We were able, however, to use the transfer to the airport at the end of our visit. We will certainly recommend you to anyone who is going to Prague. You were efficient and courteous and helped to make our trip a memorable one.

This is just a rather belated note to thank you very much for all you did to make our trip to Prague so successful. We enjoyed a very happy stay at The Bishop's House together with an excellent tour of the city on our first morning. Our guide Lucie Pechacova was very helpful and informative and we learned a lot about Prague from her. Our transport from the airport to our hotel was also very efficient. We appreciated all you did for us and wanted to say thank you.

Stayed at the hotel for two nights. The hotel was excellent with very helpful staff. The location of the hotel is excellent only a few minutes from Charles Bridge. Stayed in the main hotel which is full of character. The breakfast provided a wide range of bakery products, cereal and you were always greeted by the friendly hotel staff. I would recommend the hotel to everyone due to its excellent location, friendly staff and excellent large and clean rooms.

We stayed at the Bishops House for 4 nights and it was absolutely perfect. The hotel is perfectly placed just a stones throw from the Charles Bridge and a 10 minute walk to Old Town. The rooms were spacious and the hotel was quiet. Breakfast was ideal - a typical cold buffet with some hot eggs and sausage thrown in for good measure. Staff were pleasant and helpful. We'd stay again

Look, this place isn't the Ritz, but I still give it an excellent (5 stars) because it was absolutely perfect for what I wanted. It was clean, the rooms were huge, the staff phenomenal and the location? CAN'T BEAT IT! It is literally yards from the St. Charles Bridge. I had to leave SUPER ealy in the morning and the staff (can't remember his name) was up, called the cab (made sure it arrived) and made me coffee. Very sweet. If you are looking for gorgeous accomodations with luxury linens and room service, this place will disappoint you. But if you are looking for budget accomodations with a friendly staff and the best location in Prague, this place is perfect.

My wife and I stayed in Bishop's House hotel in November and thouroughly enjoyed it. The rooms are large in size very clean and the location of the hotel is perfect just near the charles darwin bridge. The staff there are really friendly and the breakfast is nice and quaint. We found alot of different sites with this hotel and settled on one that offered stay for 5 pay for 4.It ended up saving us around 300 euro.

Just back from a weekend break to Prague. Having previously stayed on Wenceslas Square we decided to stay in Lesser Quarter and couldn't have asked for a hotel with a better location! The Bishops House is a stones throw from Charles Bridge and a great location for exploring . The hotel is fairly traditional and quite basic but absolutely spotless. We were in a tower room at the back of the hotel so did not have problems with noise as in previous reviews. Good self service continental breakfast, rooms cleaned daily and very helpful staff who are more than happy to book tours, taxis and offer general advice & info about Prague. We would've have liked a larger public area with perhaps a bar but this is not a complaint as we knew what to expect when booking. Great hotel for a quiet break especially at this time of year (December)
